A well-maintained human hair wig can last for years and can be reshaped, colored and trimmed as your tastes change over time.
Unlike synthetic wigs, human hair wigs are designed to last much longer, but some common mistakes cut the life of your human hair wig in half. There is some helpful tips on making your human hair wig last longer.
- Washing Human Hair Wigs
The maintenance of natural hair wigs mainly consists of washing, moisturizing, and drying the same hair.
It is recommended that it be done in a specialized center like ours. It can also be done at home following a series of recommendations and always with the appropriate products.
- The number one and most important tip is precisely this. The key to extending your wig’s health is that you never use products purchased in large stores and white labels for maintenance.
- It is also essential that you detangle the hair from your wig before wetting it. Start with the ends, then detangle the middle and finally the root area.
- To wash it, put it on a cork head. This will make it much easier for you and prevent the hair from turning inward.
- Once placed on the cork head, wet it and apply the Discipline shampoo that prevents frizz and leaves the hair shiny and silky. If you notice dehydrated hair, Never rub your hair to wash it. You can help with your fingers or with a skeleton comb to distribute the shampoo well through the hair.
Rinse it with plenty of water. Shampoos residue should stick in the hair & follow the same procedure to get good results
- Hydration and drying of natural hair wigs
- The hydration of the wigs’ natural hair is vital since the prostheses and wigs in Mumbai are made with processed and flaked hair and to this is added that it does not have natural fat or feed on the nutrients of the scalp.
That is why it is super important to apply a mask suitable for this type of hair. Unlike with our hair, the front will have to be applied all over the wig and not only on the ends. Please leave it to act for at least 15 minutes and then rinse with plenty of water.
- Then if you want to avoid frizz, apply the Discipline Fluid and the Serum Oil and then let it air dry or dry it by hand with the help of the hairdryer.
As it is made of natural hair, once it is dry you can also straighten it with the iron but always be careful not to get too close to the base to prevent the rubbers or monofilament from burning.
If you are going to use heating devices, also apply a thermal protector to protect the hair.
- Make sure the inside of the wig is also dry before putting it on.
Perform this maintenance once a week or when you notice that the hair on your wig has become frizzy.
This is the first sign that your piece requires you to hydrate it. And if you want an extra shine in the hair of your wig.
- Other tips:
- When you take off your natural hair wig, leave it on the cork head to prevent its base from deforming.
- Avoid, as much as you can, the continued rubbing of the hair with the clothes.
- Only wigs made by the hand of natural hair can be dyed to restore their color. And if you are going to do it, the idea is that you take it to a specialized center where they will apply the appropriate dye. With all other wigs in Chennai, never do it!
